Caleb managed to scare us one more time. We have been trying to be a lot more careful with him lately, but it didn't work.
Last Saturday, he escaped twice! In the morning, Tessa was having a yard sale, and she asked me if I had anything that I wanted to sell too. I brought some baby clothes and Jill Griffith also brought some stuff to sell. All of us had our kids outside playing. Sadie and Jessica were selling cupcakes, cookies and apple juice. The kids were having fun. When I turn around to look for Caleb, he was gone. It took us about 5 minutes to figure out that he went after Jill's son, Brett, back to their house. We talked to him and tried to explain that he can't just take off and not let us know where he's going.
Later in the afternoon, Roman was outside washing the car and the kids were all out riding their bikes and scooters. I told Roman I was going to go to the grocery store. I pleaded with him to please pay attention on Caleb, because he will disappear if we don't watch him.
When I was almost at Macey's (about a 10 minute drive), Joy Martin calls me. She says: "Roberta, Caleb is here at my house." My reaction, as always, in disbelief: "What???" Joy said that she saw Caleb riding his scooter and she stopped him and asked where his parents were, and he said that he was going for a ride. Right away she knew that he was not supposed to be that far away from home by himself. Joy lives about 3 block away from our house.
She told one of her girls to go after him and they brought him back to their house. I told her I was going to call Roman to let him know that she had Caleb. I tried to call, but nobody answered. I knew Roman was already going crazy looking for him. I called Joy back and told her that I wasn't able to talk to Roman and that I was coming to get Caleb.
Joy was kind enough to send Kelly after Roman to tell him that Caleb was at their house. Roman and I got at Joy's house at the same time and I could see how desperate Roman was. He said that, one more time, he almost called the police...
I'm so grateful for my neighbors!! Thanks so much, Joy!! And if any of you find Caleb wondering in the neighborhood, please let us know! Caleb is not allowed to go outside anymore without constant supervision. He is not allowed to ride his scooter or his bike. We are taking away his transportation. We'll see if this time it will work...

Oh man, Roberta. I'm so sorry that he got away again! You need to get a tracking device implanted under his skin. ;)
I hate to admit that I laughed out loud when you said that you're taking away his transportation. That kid!
Oh no, I can't believe he managed to get away again!!!! I feel bad for you and your husband, but I'm sure you both will have a lot of good stories to tell people when Caleb is older :)
I laughed at the transportation part too. Wait until that kid has real wheels! Will ran off the other day, but luckily we saw his scooter parked on the sidewalk next door. He rode 20 feet over to the Carter's and then just opened their door and walked in. Hang in there!
Guria, esse guri so da sustos, heim? Meu santo, tem que rir no final das estorias, heim? Beijos e se cuida!
I love the title of this post... it just really says a lot! :) I liked Katie's idea of putting a tracking device in him. Some day long in the future you'll laugh, right? :)I'm just afraid Enok is headed in the same direction. He could care less if we are near him or not.
